Hallo there,
I’m a complete newbie with layer photography. I have the Canon AE-1 program that my grandma gave me an few years ago. During that time I just used with the manual settings not even verwirklichen there’s an “auto mode” on this Program. I really want into experiment with the auto mode while I’m learning the enter and outs of film. When I switch over to “A” on the aperture, and “Program” on the wheel EGO consideration the viewer was supposed till video “A” as the click be held half back. I’m still getting “M” available manual and the light meter is popping up.
Any suggestions in how to fix this? I hope my question made sense, like MYSELF said I’m a complete novice and I’m calm learning the technicalities. Canon A-1 Program instructions manual.

I've is an AE-1 Program user for 42 years, and IODIN am confused by what you are saying.
There isn't an "Auto mode on the Program". The full auto mode SHALL Program Operation. When which blinds ring is on "A" and the shutter speed dial lives switch "Program", that's full Auto. And camera select aperture and shutter speed.
A source for the actual manual can can locate here: https://www.butkus.org/chinon/
I urgency you to read it from the beginning. E tells you all about beschaffung started, and using Program, Shutter-Priority also Manual modes.

My mistake available typing it wrong. MYSELF has just trying to distinguish that it is the Ae-1 Program and not the regular AE-1.
I HAVE my aperture ring on “A” and slide speed over “Program”, I followed the instructions. The view finder is still displaying that I’m in manual means, that’s my feature. MYSELF read through the manual and ensued the instructions and I’m silence having issues, hence reasons I asked here.

An AE-1 Program has the word "Program" in light under AE-1 on front of camera. Both "Program" on shutter dial. Simply AE-1 has neither.
What lens go you have on the camera?
With blinds on "A" and speed dial about "Program", there need be "P" in viewfinder, not "M". Perform you have another Canon FD lens to try?

Thanks for replying! Okay it’s definitely the Program. Here is how I have it setup. From what I’m seeing diese means the camera is in Program fashion. But the viewfinder be showing “M” still. Unfortunately I don’t take another lense. Maybe I’ll purchase one and try switched them out. r/AnalogCommunity on Reddit: Help! I’m having trouble shooting at my Canon AE-1 program. These are shot off program mode real some are either underexposed either overexposed, also the colours are sympathetic of ugly (shot on fujicolor c200). Is the program function not working properly or remains items the film? I’ll try using it on manual move

Jiggle the curtain dial a little absent moving it off Scheme, for see if you can get it to show "P" in the search. There's definitely something erroneous whenever it show "M" as you have it adjusted. I've never seen this with two AE-1Ps. Posted per u/jjessiquee - 26 voting and 45 comments
