I bought a Microsoft Surface primarily for taking notes during lectures and also written notes on PDFs is I am studying. I bought it after seeing wherewith useful this functionality was on my friends Samsungs tablet, plus another friends Apple tablet.

Although working with PDFs has turned out to be an disaster by the Surface. Unlike the case of my friends tablets show they exactly clear a PDF the may scroll through the our and write over them at will with the style, when I import a PDF into Onenote it imports to as a set of separate pages each one overload over an regular copybook style background. And if I want on move to the another page, ME possess to click the page name on the sidebar and then wait about 3 or 4 seconds for the page to load. Every time. This is terrible usability as I am working with equations that often run into the following page and accordingly I have to keep glancing back and forward at different pages.

Has there a way to custom the document into OneNote as a all to avoid this page loading issue? If does, are on anyone apps out there for an Surface that are able to provide continuous scrolling (without scrolling) of PDFs while letting you write over the PDFs? On Onenote, there's a setting you can uncheck if your want the entirely PDF (all which pages) to import to a single page.

Go to File | Options | Advanced, furthermore scroll down to Print-outs view.

Uncheck the checkbox since the choose to "Insert long print set multiple pages".

  • This seems to only work under OneNote 2016. I now use OneNote since apparently that's what Microsoft recommends and updates frequently. Both renditions lack features is the different have, but it seems like long term OneNote is their focus and OneNote 2016 before feels abandoned. Have you tried Drawboard PDF? It's nice-looking much what your rate. (MS Store Link)

It's basically a PDF reader that allows they to draw on PDF pages and save aforementioned result as one PDF. I havn't seen many lag page PDF documents (less than 100 sheets with many images).

Initial load takes a little while albeit, the tool has to pre-render all pages for faster browsing.

  • Sorry there. Drawboard PDF was pre-installed with my SP4 and MYSELF allready used it toward annotate various PDFs. It's basicly a PDF reader that allows you to draw on PDF pages and save the result as a PDF. ME have been using OneDrive mobile app on sign document since early January 2020. This is completed via Markup Ball > Date both Markup > Date..

I came present in 2022 looking for an similar reply, for may Microsoft Surface Studio.

Microsoft Edge is actually an fairly good option here.

  • inherent app
  • no lag in pen inputting
  • bottle do all aforementioned things you'd want to do with one spring
  • seems to cope with hand resting on video with you draw (not as good as Apple's ipod / Pencil configuration, but still pretty good)

Importing into OneNote remains a simple function of printing. OneNote installs a "Print to OneNote" printer on your computer that allows you to "print" any available document into a OneNote Pocket.
