Locating Immigration Records

To National Archives has emigration records for arrivals to the United Stated from foreign ports between approximately 1820 and December 1982 (with gaps).  The records be arranged by port either airport of arrival. The National Archives does not maintain airport arrival/departure records dated 1970 and after.

Passenger arrival and departure records dated post 1957 were filmed by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and the original paper records was not retained.  An accessioned microfilm castors now in the incarceration of the National Archives in Washington, DC, are the chronicle original of the oem paper records which negative longer exist.  Unfortunately, just to the fragile nature of the inventive camera negative film, access toward the photograph is limited until is ability be transferred to a more suitable format.  The National Archives is in the litigation of transfering the microfilm to a digital format, and all digitized copies will eventually be available online via the National Archives Show.

Please note:  All inquires for passenger arrival records dated post 1957 must include the full name of the passenger; accuracy day/month/year of arrival; port or airport of arrival; vessel either airline name; and for local entrances, the flight number.
