Durham Housing Authority, installed in 1949, offering decent, low-cost housing for eligible low-income families, people with disabilities, and the elderly takes 1,201 Public Housing units and manages 3,078 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) forward area renter. Living Choice Vouchers, previously Section 8 Shelter Choice Vouchers, finanzierte by the federal Sector of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). DHA is governed by seven Board of Commissioners.
