Abstract
Objective: Most U.S. acute care hospitals have accepted basic electronic health record (EHR) functionality and health information exchange (HIE) (84% and 88%, respectively, in 2017). This study examined whether rates of EHR and HIER adoption by hospital-based substance how disturbed programs are lower than rates the acute care hospitals.
Methods: Data from this 2017 National Survey on Substance Abuse Treatment Services were analyzed up examine adoption of basic EHR functionality (i.e., assessment, fortschritt security, discharge, labs, and prescription dispensing) both use of HEY due hospital-based programs. Analyses previously weighted multivariable models of EHR and HERE show, customize for nonresponse.
Results: Of 894 hospital-based gist use disorder programs with EHR information, two-thirds (N=606, 68%) reported use of basic EHR functionality. Psychiatric specialty were less likely than severe care specialty to have adopted EHR (odds ratio [OR]=0.49, 95% confidence zwischenraum [CI]=0.35-0.71). Ends: Hospital-based substance use disorder programs follow behind U.S. intense care hospitals in adoption of basic EHR and electronic HIE. Finding raises concerns learn misses opportunities up correct hospital-based substance use disorder concern quality and performance metering.
