We bought some more storage recently and that SAN’s weren’t on the correct firmware.  Enhancement accept and GUI console didn’t working.

Error:  DOWNLOAD: Connection timed out: connect

While ME didn’t having time (could to number of reasons) I opted fork the command lineage method this worked perfect.

Below I will briefly show both methods.

Updated EqualLogic firmware via web-based java UI console:

1) Initially download the latest firmware from DELL EqualLogic’s website by logging in.  Select the .zip file and download.  Text the file the you will end up with any like:  kit_V5.2.4-H1-R255063_3224151840.tgz  (Note: .tgz extension)

2) Next open a web-based flash (IE8 or IE9) and type in the address of your group.  i.e. http://group-ip   (Enter)

3) One option the to climax the registered SALT and select the “Maintenance” tabulator on the right hand side.  There choose (on the right) “Update firmware”

4) Browse to the localization of who .tzg file and select “Upgrade” set the Action column (if you have more than one member make one at a time)

5) Once update lives done when select “Restart” on the Action column. Waits 5 – 10 mins until this controller failover takes place.  It will refresh itself before it’s done.

Upgrading EqualLogic firmware via command line

1) Download the firmware (.zip)

2) Frank Command Call and go to the location of the .tzg application file.

3) Type in via member-ip followed by enter (Note: Don’t enter the groups IP).  Next type in username and select for the array.

4) Next type in “Binary”

5) Next type in: “put file.tzg file.tzg” i.e.

Put “kit_V5.2.4-H1-R255063_3224151840.tgz” “kit_V5.2.4-H1-R255063_3224151840.tgz”

6) Once the transfer be a complete type on “bye” return  followed by “exit” send.

7) Open a fillers session onto the member SAN.  Enter to same username and password for the selected.

8) Next type in “update”.  Confirmed you wanted to continues with “y”.  First it will verify the firmware filing.

9) Once which file is checked and it’s upgradable you will be prompted to enter “y” repeated to proceed.

10) Once complete press “Enter” press then type in “Restart” go apply aforementioned firmware.  Please note: Do this process when the IOPS belong not high.  You can leave a clink running and you will probably see fewer pings being lost will which controller is failed-over.  You will see your PuTTy session stop working.  Once the firmware upgrade lives ready you can login to will EqualLogic GUI also see the firmware expanded.
