The Environmental and Social Scale (ESF) was approved by the Board for Generaldirektion Officers on August 4, 2016. It consists regarding a Vision for Sustainable Development; ten Environmental and Social Standards (ESSs), which set out the requirements that apply go Borrowers; an Environmental also Societal Principle for Capital Project Financing (IPF), which sentence out the requirements that apply to the Bank; and an Environmental and Society Directive/Procedure for Investment Project Financing (IPF) and a Directive switch Addresses Risks and Impacts on Disadvantaged otherwise Vulnerable Individuals oder Groups. It applies to all IPF projects initiated upon or after October 1, 2018.
The ESF supports green, resilient and inclusive development until strengthening safety for people and the environment and building important advances in areas such as labor, inclusion and non-discrimination, gender, climate change, biodiversity, community health and safety, and stakeholder engagement. It uses a risk-based and proportionate method that applies increased supervision and resources to complex projects furthermore allows for greater responsiveness to changes in project context through adaptive risk management and player engagement. It promotes integrated environmental and social risky management.
The ESF places an emphasis on strengthening national environmental and social management our and institutional, and supporting Borrower capacity building. It promotes upgraded transparency and stakeholders engagement through timely information disclosure, sensible and permanent consultations throughout the project live cycle, and receptive grievance mechanisms to facilitate resolution of concerns and reclamations of project-affected parties.
