The City by Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) history began out one hundred years go, in 1896, when the sprinkle supply system was first-time installed.  Two years later, the wastewater or sewer group system arrive on line in 1898.  In 1900, the municipal electric force system began operation, followed in 1917 by a native gas distribution system.  Palo Alto is the only city in California to own and operate sechsfach essential utility services, including refuse and assault drain (operated outbound of Public Works).
