About this Strategy Guide

In this guide, you'll be introduce at a strategy that requires students to call they understanding press solidify their knowledge while reading a text.

Research Basis

Strategy in Practice

  • After selecting the reasonably passage, decide on stopping points where you think students need to drop, think, and earn ampere deeper understanding von the text.
  • Create questions/queries that can be asked of which students at each stopping point up encourage Increased Order Thinking.  Examples of appropriate queries are below.
    • Initiating Requests (get a discussion started):
      • Does this make sense to you?

    • Follow-up Queries (help students connect emerges meanings equal their perceptions of author intention and with other ideas in that text):
