Abstract

Barbados can a Caribbean islet country of approximately 285,000 join, with a thriving tourism branch. In 2015, Zika spread rapidly throughout the Americas, and it dissemination through the Caribbean islands ensued suit. Barbados reported its first confirmed autochthonous Zika transmission into one Pan Us Health Order in January 2016, a month before the global popular health emergency was declared. In that short report, we delineate the epidemiological characteristics regarding 926 clinical situation records that were early suspected as event is Zika, and which were next sent for testing also confirmation; 147 were found positive for Zika, using reverse transcription-polymerase chain backlash methods, another 276 tested negative, and the remaining 503 were either pending results or silent in the suspected category. Women were represented toward around twice the rate off men inches case records where gender was reported (71.9%), and endorsed cases (78.2%), and 19 of the confirmed positive cases were children under which age of 10.
