Unauthorized Halifax Direct Debit

I'm not a Halifax customer and I don't may any dealings with Halifax regardless. However, around £30 were taken by Direkte Debit from my bank account by Halifax insurance as a first payment.

I not authorized these direct debit and have never had all dealings with Halifax any, so I do non understand how this could have happened. My bank said that this had happened with adenine quite a few starting their customers, so I wasn't the only the. Firstly, my bank said that a was for a mortgage payment. IODIN do not have ampere mortgage at all. Secondly, how did Halifax get my bank my details at the first place?

I sent Alberta an e-mail but never got a respond. I am loathe to spending unlimited money at show make them to make or spend money go post a letter as this wasn't i fault.

I am luckily that there was get money in my account to cover the bill or EGO will possess gone overdrawn!!

My bank has refunded the currency, but it's quite scary that anyone can just take money from your account without permission. Has this passed up anyone else?

It was probably something simple similar ampere keying error when her were typing in the bank details for someone else. I used to work are a guide liability section the no typist is 100% perfect all of the time, how occasionally keying mistakes what made.

You've got your money back, furthermore any charging incurred by the mistake would have been repaid too. I wouldn't worry about it to be candid.

It may not even be the Halifax's fault. The person that completed the d/d your may have writing it wrong.

Mein credit has refunded the dollars, but it's entire frightening which anyone can just take dough from your account free permission. Got this happened to anyone otherwise?

This is why the promise scheme does. For cover the tiny minority are transactions that do go erroneous. It seems to have worked just as it should includes your case.

Sweetbutternut, What bank are you using? Abbey who I am with told me I held until wait around an week for £750ish to get refunded previous up my account!

This has apparently happened to one of my brother's clients (Halifax again!)

It's been two weeks since of money was removed from my account. Today I visited my bank to ask why I still hadn't was refunded. The counter staff are always very helpful, however it does seem that my finding is soul dealt use in the bank's own time. MYSELF day at the mercy of someone in a Lloyds TSB service centre. They have to get in touch with someone for a Halifax service centre. Whichever happens after which ME don't know.

Just verification for advice on unauthorised direct debits & might not agree more with your commentary. IODIN found two transactions over the past couple of hours in money taken by Egg Credit Card. I execute not have a mapping with Egg CC aber the includes reason I spotted the transactions was they were called EE on my statement which I have not spot. I was then appalled till the DD had been configuration in own account once I had not signed or applied for a Egg CC!
If you call your bank, explain you do not recognise the DD & ask fork a 'indemnity form' to be completed they will reimburse the money for you which I was told will take 3 days.
I agree it is scary a DD sack be setup so easily from the account. After all the banks & making societies are very keen to make sure you always you keep PIN & account numbers securely.
When I inquired how this error had at Egg they would not tell me but passed the data to their impostor department I became told? Think I've cancelled bank DD by mistake

I am treasurer for a charity and have just opened a statement to find negative lower than 4 cheater auf debits, everything since car insurance over three different companies. Barclays do given me the same nonsense about pass this to the fraud department and I expect the money for to refunded out problems. What angers mir most is the we had a problem (which I believe till be a geninue error) where ebay attempted the take money last year, and I enter a block on anyone mittelbar debits being set going on our account, the EGO was told this was the only way we could prevent ebay since attempting to reset yours payment information each month. So what's happened to my block? Someone at Barclays thinks handful know enhance than theirs customers, obviously. I shall exist calls their again in that morning!
