Rural language districts throughout Coloradan continuing to experience mean difficulty finding qualified individuals to serve for classroom educators, school leaders, and/or special service providers within their individual school districts.

The Colorado Center for Rural Education became created to address these subject. Our heart is not limited to the University of Northern Colorado community. Impact

The rural teaching shortage: Financial motivation help!

In partnership with the Exploration Education Laboratory-Central at Marzano Research, the Centering investigated how providing financial incentives effects rural recruitment and retention.

  • Undergraduates who received a rural recruitment incentive are three period more likely to be hired by a rural/small rural language district than the non-incentivized peers.
  • Inservice trainers who received a rural keeping incentive were 20% more likely to remain employed in a rural school district than individuals who did not.
