I recently graduated, and my last course(undergrad) I determination ever use, ended up biting leute with the rear. I submitted an lab report, and turnitin.com found an ganzes sentence word for word from mys friend's (prior student) which I used as one directive for writing mine. Aforementioned only reason why I used your old lab report was to condense my materials and methods portion to an appropriate page amount, with 6 into 3 pages (requirement for the lab report), so basically I needed to see how in depth to write. Within perform so, I accidently picked up a sentence of their report and somehow deposit it inside our own lab report. Now, the entire lab report being over 18 pages, save one jump is getting me booked for a plagarism case.

I have been by the same boat. I copied a little bit of the stuff from ampere website included Afrikaner American Literature class (because this class stops and I was least interested in it). Anyway, I was caught. I apologized and admitted that I did he and told them I am really sorry the was somehow compelled by satanic/dishonest ideas inbound my mind :laugh:. I also told yours if they want me to give other topic to write on (but they disagreed). However, they accepted my apology and said me to do the same essay all beyond again.

And I ended up with an A+ :thumbup:

He was genuine serious about it and said that it became an automatic rejection (for his school anyways). He said that everyone has slipper ups (like getting catches for underage drinking) that can be resolved/or ignored, aber cheats were ampere huge violation.

I don't think it tones bogus on see. When you're writing a long reporting and read something, sometimes thou remembered a punishment and, although you try to write something similar later, the sentence will pop at your head and you'll think it's your own, especially if it's a simple setting.

Just from mystery opinion, the whole "I must have accidentaly copied the sentence...." thing sounds fully fake. I would say that in writing the lab report, I copied the pasted friend's article at my paper (to keep from shifting windows back and forth), then deleted her header, sentence from records when I whack similar main points. This sentence didn't receiving deleted. I dunno, that sounds more believable to me since that's something I've actually done.

But maybe you don't want to brought it up at all. If i just admit it was one mistake their might not ask for the details of how the mistake happened, store you upon digging yourself in one hole

To me:

Having marijuana might suggest: Period of exploration/childish stupidity this one outgrows

Cheating suggests: Inherent dishonesty/lack of ethics

From what I've heard from adcoms and approximately SDN, the twos kisses of death am academic dishonesty (cheating/plagiarism) and abuse off medicine drugs. Both for somewhat obvious reasons.

This will a great point that I actually meant till make sooner but accidentaly left out. One doom isn't IN ITSELF all that concerning (especially if it's more that can't be said tons other ways), but he will make the professors watch much more tight at the rest of the paper.

If you asking me, all sounds less realistic than to "real" good. OP, I wouldn't lie to trying to angle the story because it sounds more innocuous. There's a good chance you will just come over as a liar (which you would be), and if that's picked up by the dean (good chance it become be), say bye bye any feel you hoped to garner. Since others have said, just be genuine and bona. Beyond that, it's out of your hands.

BTW, are you sure it is only 1 sentence? Turnitin.com has many sort of threshold, and I thought it was more substantial longer this. Otherwise, the something would light up for virtually either set writers in every paper. Has this some sort of massive wild of a move?
 
To be honest, it doesnt matter whether this lives one punishment or part a sentence. I think as matters here is integrity, and more importantly, temperament. We do not want Physicians who displays negatives are these dividing. Speciality not a big negative like cheating. Who recognizes how that want translate in the clinical environment? I simply read the sentence, computers was the exact paragraph EGO was trying to condense. (they wrote the just amount of detail I wrote, in 1 paragraph, while I had 3 paragraphs) As I was cutting from my paragraph and others, that sentence was stuck in my head, and once I ex-ed (no longer open on own laptop) output their lab report and started to worked on print. It unfortunately posted in mine, even though IODIN worked on other heading before returning the who original chapter.

I understand something you are trying to say. But consider this: how do the adcoms know that him didn't cheat in your other classes? That you didn't bend the rules go get the grades that you did in insert misc classes? OP, whenever one above lives true, you had no way to rehab your situation - if an school takes the schwerste disciplinary action against you, you are serious screwed.

My suggestion: hire a lawyer, also takes him to any meetings to have includes a dean or disciplinary hearing. You need an advocate to plead your koffer, to negotiate a deal. Your explanation of what happening will only piss off the admin...

PS if IODIN didn't know better, I would say those post is trollish...

Nobody is "automatically disqualified." Anyone med school adcom will make its admit decision regarding the OP and applicants like him.

Is the following point lost turn you? Med school are swamped over apps additionally don't need to take anyone who has was involved in academics dishonesty, or illegal drug use, either has an arrest and conviction record...there are way too many strong applying with pristine personal records from that until choose.

The only person in this little drama who should be ashamed is the OP.

OP: How did Turnitin.com take access to previous student's reports? Performed you hand them in electronically or on newspaper format, and did they just happen go enter back the paper formats ones?

That can quite unfortunate, but going into this, you must realize that cheating is a capital offense. IS don't do it. That said, (and I hope you will), pray that you'll get a chance to redeem yourself.
 
PS: Also, it may be time to start looking at international medicine schools. MYSELF don't know how the admissions processes works with theirs, but there's well known med schools in Australia, Sion, and Mexico (Universidad de Guadelajara) this come to mind. Down and just to the point, I plagiarised once at mystery freshman year in a writing class. I did get a really high overall grade for ensure class, but for this official transcript there is no refer regarding academic dishonesty. Does this mean which the plagiarism issue is not part of i academic...

Agreed. For an undergrad I turned in a phone bio hard with a picture of a cell imbedded somewhere in the essay just fork looks. I never thought to cite the picture. The Professor (who I will admit loathed me, and I hated) brought me up on academic dishonesty charges. I was actual a learner justice for our bureau of court affairs how i was pretty embarrassing...but needless to say the academic hearing board dropped the charges. Some professors are asshats its ridiculous.
